Does anyone have information regarding an American coloratura soprano named
Amri Galli-Campi who sang in the 20's thru the 50's? And if so, does anybody
have recordings of her? She taught voice in NYC around the 60's thru the 80's
and was an exponent of the De Reszke's technique. Many thanks!
Get in touch with Joel Grey. He was Amri's student for a while. She was a wonderful teacher.

She was my husband's great aunt. And I believe his father still has audio recordings of her.

She was my great-great-aunt. My grandmother's (Virginia (Baker) Fischer) aunt. I remember her from Thanksgiving dinners.

A friend of mine studied with her and I would be so grateful to have a recording of her voice to share with my friend. My friend says all the time how Amri Galli-Campi fixed her, fixed her voice and how she had a wonderful career as a result.
Thank you,
Deanna

I studied with her in the 80's. Awesome technique! She showed me the importance of pronunciation.
Ive had the habit of speaking too fast and she refused to let me "slide" with diction. Miss her. She was talented and interesting to talk to for hours on end.

I don't know if anyone is following this thread. I am a recording engineer and have probably the only existing recordings of Amri Galli-Campi. In the 1990's radio airchecks were given to me for digital restoration. They were from 1930's-40's vintage radio programs such as Major Bowes and others. Very good sound considering the era. If anyone is interested, please reply back here.
